JSTOR have been experiencing intermittent, site-wide access issues that affect use of JSTOR for the past couple of days. JSTOR engineers are working hard to restore stable access as quickly as possible.
Please check their 'Platform Updates' page (http://about.jstor.org/jstor-help-support/jstor-updates) for service alerts about these issues. They will post the most current information on that page, as it happens.
JSTOR apologise for this inconvenience

Reminder: Searching JSTOR? Now search DISCOVER too
New features in JSTOR make it easier to extend your search instantly to look for results from the full Library DISCOVER service.
As you search for something in JSTOR you will see that there is a link ready and waiting to take your search into DISCOVER ('Search... at DISCOVER'). There's also an additional link at the foot of the results page to carry your search forward:

DISCOVER is the Library's unified, customised index of University of Liverpool Library resources, print and e-resources, books and journal articles - an easy yet powerful means of accessing what the Library has from one single search box.
It works the other way too. JSTOR content is in DISCOVER as well of course and you can find JSTOR content by selecting JSTOR as the 'Content Provider ' in the left-hand column of your results screen.

Once you get to the 3rd page of results, you'll also be prompted to try your search in the Library's DISCOVER service:

The link to 'Try your search at DISCOVER' now also appears on the Advanced Search screen:

If you get no results in JSTOR then a much larger DISCOVER search box is displayed!

DISCOVER searches more resources
DISCOVER searches now include two key open access sources: OAIster and arXiv.
OAIster (pronounced 'oyster') includes information from a huge number of institutional repositories and other databases that allow their information to be harvested through a standard called OAI-PMH. Most of the content in such sites is free but sometimes you will find content that you can't access and sometimes you will find broken links. Those are the fault of OAIster not DISCOVER! We have included OAIster in all our DISCOVER search profiles.
arXiv (pronounced 'archive' as if the 'X' were the Greek letter Chi χ) is the pre-prints service for physics, maths and computer science. We have included arXiv in the main DISCOVER profile and the one for Science and Engineering.
We have now expanded JSTOR's coverage in DISCOVER to also include the collections that we don't subscribe to. These lack the full-text links to JSTOR (we don't have access there, so what would be the point?) but they may help you to find articles that we have through publisher backfile purchases, or in hard copy in the library, or at least to allow you to try ordering them through ArticleReach.
Similarly we now include Informit content in DISCOVER. Informit covers journals from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific and even though we don't subscribe to Informit we may have access elsewhere to some of the articles it hosts.
Finally, eBooks from Oxford Scholarhip Online are included in DISCOVER. Data and links are at the chapter level to give your searches more chance of finding relevant content.

DISCOVER now includes all JSTOR
We previously reported that JSTOR Arts & Sciences I was now included in our main DISCOVER search results, and now all of our subscribed JSTOR collections are included:

(Actually it includes JSTOR Life Sciences which is bigger than JSTOR Biological Sciences so you might sometimes be denied access if you follow the link to JSTOR, although by following our find it @ liverpool link you might find that we have access elsewhere, e.g. for Proc. Roy. Soc.).
JSTOR Arts & Sciences I
JSTOR Arts & Sciences II
JSTOR Arts & Sciences III
JSTOR Arts & Sciences IV
JSTOR Arts & Sciences VII
JSTOR Biological Sciences
JSTOR Ireland

All the JSTOR collections listed above are included in our main DISCOVER search, but just the relevant ones in our subject profiles on DISCOVER.
Now that JSTOR and Web of Science are included in our main DISCOVER results, we have withdrawn from them federated search results on the right of the screen.

DISCOVER now includes ScienceDirect, WOS, JSTOR
The main search results in DISCOVER now include results supplied directly from:
ScienceDirect (from 2005 onwards)
Web of Science Arts & Humanities Citation Index (from 1976)
Web of Science Social Science Citation Index (from 1930)
Web of Science Science Citation Index (from 1900)
JSTOR Arts & Sciences I
Further JSTOR collections will be added to DISCOVER shortly (and of course in the meanwhile a high proportion of the articles in JSTOR are present in DISCOVER through other sources).
With these collections, clicking on the article title will take you to the full record in DISCOVER as normal, but next to the find it @liverpool SFX link there is a direct link to the full text on ScienceDirect or JSTOR, or the full record on Web of Science.

Metalib resource updates
Following this month's update to the Metalib 'knowledge base' the following resources are now available to search in Metalib, or have had their search functionality improved:
- JSTOR: we now offer separate searches of each of our subscribed collections: JSTOR Arts & Sciences I-IV and VII (formerly Complement), Biological Sciences, Ireland. The main entry for JSTOR still searches all JSTOR collections (but note that we don't subscribe to JSTOR Arts & Sciences V or VI). A seperate entry for 19th Century British Pamphlets is not yet available.
- Royal Society Journals: this searches all years of all Royal Society journals. Note that we have full access to Royal Society journals.
- Oxford Music Online: it is now possible to search all areas of Oxford Music Online as a signle resource (though as only 30 searches are initially returned from any Metalib resource you may prefer to search the 4 existing sub-targets for the components of Oxford Music Online).
- Cambridge Companions Online: this is now a fully-functional search, i.e. the records are returned to the Metalib interface (previously we just linked out the search results on the CCO site). The SFX links have been suppressed from the returned records because a much more reliable way to link to the required chapter is to follow the direct link from the full Metalib record.
- Cambridge Scientific Abstracts: the following databases can now be searched in Metalib: Algology Mycology and Protozoology Abstracts, Genetics Abstracts, Oncogenes and Growth Factors Abstracts, Virology and AIDS Abstracts.
