TRIAL: Voices from Wartime France

Voices from Wartime France is an online digital archive of the sum of the French press that actually reached Britain during the Occupation of 1940-1944. Providing perspectives of both the Vichy government and the resistance movement, it is a record of what was known by the British about the hearts and minds of the French people at the most dramatic time of their shared history.

We have trial access to this archive until 22nd April 2011. To access this trial go to Thomson Gale's trials site and login with the trial username and password. If we purchase the resource, access would be via EZProxy as normal.

Please leave your feedback about the resource using the comments function below. You can choose the Anonymous comment option if you don’t have a Blogger account, but please provide us your name so we can follow-up any feedback you might have.

TRIAL: Foreign Office Files for India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, 1947-1980

We have a trial of Foreign Office Files for India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, 1947-1980. Section I: Independence, Partition and the Nehru Era, 1947-1964 until 8th April 2011.

To access this trial go to http://www.archivesdirect.amdigital.co.uk/. Off-campus users should access this link using Internet Explorer in the Web or Office folder of Apps Anywhere. If we purchased this resource we would set up access via EZproxy as usual.

The birth and development of the Indian and Pakistani states, the problems of partition and the tensions over Kashmir, from 1947 through to the death of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, are examined in great detail in this new online resource from the Adam Matthew Group. These were traumatic years for the region, with the violence of partition and its aftermath erupting into full-scale war between India and Pakistan. Note that the ‘download entire document in PDF’ option is not available during the trial. However, you are still able to view and print images from the collections.

After trying this resource please leave a comment. You can use the Anonymous option if you do not have a blogger account, but please include your name so we can follow up your comments.

Oxford Scholarship Online: Public Health and Epidemiology now available

We have purchased the Public Health and Epidemiology collection on Oxford Scholarship Online. This collection includes 132 titles at present, but note that we will not have access to new titles added to the collection unless we purchase those updates.

Oxford Scholarship Online presents its e-books as web pages, with 5 printed pages per screen. It is possible to print a whole chapter as a PDF file, but note that this file is generated from the web display on-the-fly, and is not as it appears in the print book. There are no restrictions on the number of simultaneous users who can access Oxford Scholarship Online books.

See the catalogue records for these e-books. They can also be found through find it @ liverpool (SFX), e.g. from Google Book Search, via WorldCat.
