More Web of Knowledge databases now available

Our subscription to Web of Knowledge from Thomson Reuters now includes a number of additional databases:

Book Citation Index - Science, 2005 to present, and
Book Citation Index - Social Science, 2005 to present
Books are indexed at the chapter level, resulting in improved searches and deeper insights into the citing behavior between books and the wider world of scholarly research. Content for the Book Citation Index is comprised of scholarly books, both electronic and print, that present fully referenced articles of original research or reviews of the literature, and has been carefully selected based on well-defined criteria to offer the most significant literature available.

Current Chemical Reactions, 1986 to present
Includes Institut National de la Propriete Industrielle structure data back to 1840.

Data Citation Index, 1993 to present
Indexes research data, including data studies and data sets, and links them to the scientific literature to track data citation.

Derwent Innovations Index (Patents information), 1963 to present
Includes records from Derwent World Patents Index and, and patent citation information from: Derwent Patents Citation Index. Covers over 20 million patents worldwide from 1963. Covers: chemical, electronic and electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering

Index Chemicus, 1993 to present
Covering more than 100 of the world's leading organic chemistry journals, Index Chemicus is text- and substructure-searchable, and offers full graphical summaries, important reaction diagrams, and complete bibliographic information.

Zoological Record, 1993 to present
The Zoological record database covers international research in zoology, with systematic and taxonomic information for 27 animal groups including Mammalia, Aves, Reptilia, Amphibia, Pisces, Protochordata, Hemiptera, Insecta, Crustacea, and Protozoa. Topics include taxonomy, physiology, morphology, parasitology, biochemistry, biophysics, evolution, ecology, genetics, behavior, biometrics, communication, disease, habitat, histology, immunology, life cycle and development, locomotion, nomenclature, techniques, and zoogeography.

Links to these databases can be found in the usual places:

We hope that at least some of you will find at least some of them useful! Please use the comments feature to tell us if you do.

Note that records from these database are NOT included in Discover, but Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts & Humanities Citation Index are included in Discover and will continue to be included. (This is a correction to our earlier statement that said those databases would be withdrawn from Discover at the end of 2013. We have now had confirmation from EBSCO that that is not the case).

DISCOVER now includes all JSTOR

We previously reported that JSTOR Arts & Sciences I was now included in our main DISCOVER search results, and now all of our subscribed JSTOR collections are included:

JSTOR Arts & Sciences I
JSTOR Arts & Sciences II
JSTOR Arts & Sciences III
JSTOR Arts & Sciences IV
JSTOR Arts & Sciences VII
JSTOR Biological Sciences
JSTOR Ireland

(Actually it includes JSTOR Life Sciences which is bigger than JSTOR Biological Sciences so you might sometimes be denied access if you follow the link to JSTOR, although by following our find it @ liverpool link you might find that we have access elsewhere, e.g. for Proc. Roy. Soc.).

All the JSTOR collections listed above are included in our main DISCOVER search, but just the relevant ones in our subject profiles on DISCOVER.

Now that JSTOR and Web of Science are included in our main DISCOVER results, we have withdrawn from them federated search results on the right of the screen.

DISCOVER now includes ScienceDirect, WOS, JSTOR

The main search results in DISCOVER now include results supplied directly from:

ScienceDirect (from 2005 onwards)
Web of Science Arts & Humanities Citation Index (from 1976)
Web of Science Social Science Citation Index (from 1930)
Web of Science Science Citation Index (from 1900)

JSTOR Arts & Sciences I

Further JSTOR collections will be added to DISCOVER shortly (and of course in the meanwhile a high proportion of the articles in JSTOR are present in DISCOVER through other sources).

With these collections, clicking on the article title will take you to the full record in DISCOVER as normal, but next to the find it @liverpool SFX link there is a direct link to the full text on ScienceDirect or JSTOR, or the full record on Web of Science.
