We have just purchased the Liverpool University Press e-books collection on the University Publishing Online platform. Access is available now at http://universitypublishingonline.org.ezproxy.liv.ac.uk/liverpool/home.jsf.
The collection includes 110 titles including many that are heavily borrowed from our print collections, including:
The Long Road to Peace in Northern Ireland
Reading Rochester
Irish, Catholic and Scouse: The History of the Liverpool-Irish, 1800-1940
Liverpool: City of the Sea
The Economic Aspects of Spanish Imperialism in America, 1492-1810
The Disinherited Society: A Personal View of Social Responsibility in Liverpool During the Twentieth Century
Culture, Conflict and Migration: The Irish in Victorian Cumbria
Markets, Market Culture and Popular Protest in Eighteenth-Century Britain and Ireland
Decade of Change: The University of Liverpool 1981-1991
Migration, Mobility and Modernization
If the University Publishing Online platform looks familiar, that's because it is run by Cambridge University Press and uses the same technology as their Cambridge Books Online platform. So it's the usual things that we know you like: PDF chapters that can be downloaded and printed in their entirety, and none of that annoying DRM.
The Library Catalogue, Discover, and the library web pages will be updated in due course.

Irish Newspaper Archives now available
Following the unprecedented number of comments in response to our extended trial, we have now purchased 15 years' access to Irish Newspaper Archives. Access is now available from http://www.irishnewsarchive.com.ezproxy.liv.ac.uk/ or through our e-Newspapers or Historical Collections online pages. Catalogue records for the individual newspapers within Irish Newspaper Archives will be available soon.
The Irish Newspaper Archive contains over 6 million pages in over 500,000 issues of Irish Newspaper publications. With national daily editions such as the Irish Independent, regional weekly editions including the Connacht Tribune, Kerryman and Anglo-Celt and out of print publications such as the Freeman's Journal and The Nation. Spanning back as far as 1763 with issues been converted from microfilm and running right up to current date where more recent issues are presented in full color. The contents of all issues are fully text searchable and reflect the full context and layout of each page.
This year the full archives of the Irish Press will be added to the site and seven Northern Irish titles are in the process of being uploaded. In the future, significant historical titles such as the Butte Independent and An Gael from the States will be added.

TRIAL: Bibliography of British and Irish History
We have a trial of the Bibliography of British and Irish History until 4th February 2010.
To access this trial go to http://www.brepolis.net.ezproxy.liv.ac.uk/, click on the Enter Databases button and then choose Bibliography of British and Irish History.
The Bibliography of British and Irish History provides bibliographic data on historical writing dealing with the British Isles, and with the British Empire and Commonwealth, during all periods for which written documentation is available - from 55BC to the present. It is the successor to the Royal Historical Society Bibliography of British and Irish History, available online from 2002 to 2009.
The Bibliography provides links to online catalogues such as COPAC and it provides links to online text where available through our SFX link resolver (find it @ liverpool). This will also help you to find if we hold the items in our printed collections.
After using the Bibliography of British and Irish History please leave your comments below. You can choose the anonymous option to comment without needing to have a Blogger account, but it helps if you include your name in your feedback so that we can follow up on comments.
