The collection brings together rare journals printed between c.1685 and 1835, illuminating all aspects of eighteenth-century social, political and literary life.  Many are ephemeral, lasting only for a handful of issues, others run for several years. Topics covered are extremely wide-ranging and include: colonial life; provincial and rural affairs; the French and American revolutions; reviews of literature and fashion throughout Europe; political debates; and London coffee house gossip and discussion.  A highlight is the inclusion of the full run of The Lady’s Magazine, 1770-1832.

TheScientificWorldJournal now available

We now have access to the multidiscplinary science e-journal TheScientificWorldJournal. This journal has been made freely available to all HE and FE institutions and Research Councils as part of the Knowledge Exchange initiative, following central funding from JISC Collections.

The journal covers science subjects raging from biomedicine to environmental sciences with selected articles grouped together by subject in domains and clusters.

The agreement provides us with access to all articles published since the journal launched, and runs until 31st December 2011. At the end of 2011, JISC Collections will renew the agreement, continuing to make the 2001 to 2011 content freely available.
