HCL Refurbishment - 23 May Update

The enabling work prior to the summer Refurbishment continues. The north corridor leading from the entrance towards HCC1 has now been re-opened. This means that access to HCC1, HCC2 and the Women's toilets in the basement is back to normal.

The ground floor Disabled toilet remains closed because the lighting has not been restored; alternatives are on Stack 5 and 6, accessible via the Refreshments room and the lift in the Stacks.

The Women's toilets in the basement will continue to be closed during the evening as there is still no light on the staircase leading down to them. Alternative toilets are on Stack 6.

There are two new short-term closures in the area of the north staircase. There is no access from this staircase to Stack 4 or to Stack 6, but both can be reached via the central or south staircases. Work here also means there is no access from HCC6 to the stack floors.

Further information about what is happening right now, as well as what is planned for the summer, can be found on the HCL Refurbishment website, and particularly the FAQ page
