Help with referencing: EndNote and RefWorks
Hands-on training sessions on reference management software are being offered by the Harold Cohen and Sydney Jones Libraries to undergraduate or postgraduate students or staff.
If you need help managing references and citations as part of your project, dissertation or research, reference management software tools may be for you. These products provide a simple way to store, organise and retrieve your references and can also aid in formatting in-text citations and bibliographies in your work.
Two packages are available to University of Liverpool users, Endnote and RefWorks. You only need to learn one of the two as they both provide the same functionality.
Choose EndNote if you will be using a PC on the Managed Windows Service, if your supervisor recommends it and if you want advanced features.
Choose RefWorks if you want something easy to learn and Web-based, accessible from any location.
Then come along to the relevant training session:
EndNote
Wednesday 24th April, 1-2pm, Harold Cohen Library, Wolfson Suite
RefWorks
Wednesday 1st May, 1-2pm, Sydney Jones Library, Training Room 2
Places will be available on a first-come-first-served basis on the day. No need to book in advance.

RefWorks 2.0 now available
RefWorks, the Web-based package for managing your references and producing bibliographies, has updated its interface to RefWorks 2.0. You will see the change when you login to http://www.refworks.com/refworks. (If you are accessing RefWorks from off campus, you will need our Group Code (https://www.liv.ac.uk/library/local_html/refworks-group-code.htm)
The change is just to the interface, so if you have used RefWorks before, all your data is still there. In fact if you don't want to change interface just yet, you can still use 'RefWorks Classic' by clicking the link on the login page. Switching back and forth between interfaces does not affect any data. Write-N-Cite (the RefWorks plug-in for Word) still has the Classic interface, but it works seamlessly with RefWorks 2.0 and will be updated later this year.
The Library has produced a new guide to RefWorks, http://www.liv.ac.uk/library/research/RefWorksConciseGuide.pdf, which we will use in our training sessions later this term.
There is plenty of online help from RefWorks at http://www.refworks-cos.com/training, including a video to help current RefWorks users navigate the new interface: http://www.refworks-cos.com/refworks/rwpreview/RefWorks_New_UI_demo.htm
For more help using RefWorks, contact your Liaison Librarian http://www.liv.ac.uk/library/help/subject-contacts.html
